A collection of records from the office of the Lieutenant Governor. Included are documents from the administrations of Lieutenant Governors Thomas Carleton, George Stracey-Smyth and Sir Howard Douglas, and from Administrators Gabriel Ludlow, Edward Winslow, Martin Hunter, Ward Chipman, and William Black. Other correspondents include Benjamin Marston, Jonathan Odell, John Robinson, John Saunders, and Brooke Watson when he was the agent for the New Brunswick government in London.

The documents include records in the office of the Lieutenant Governor including: official appointments; ordinances; registers of commissions; memorials; requests for letters of marque by captains of vessels, and letters from the Lieutenant Governor granting same pertaining to the War of 1812 and the controversy with France in the 1790s (1793-1812); proclamations of the Lieutenant Governor (1784-1830); and correspondence on many issues relating to the administration of the Province. Main topics of interest are government, maritime history and privateering, and foreign relations.
