Background:

The appointment of an individual to the Office of High Sheriff of a New Brunswick county necessitated the posting of a bond to the value of 1000 sterling. Usually, the bond was posted by the appointee and two other persons.

Contents:

The microfilm reel contains sheriffs' bonds from nine counties. They include: Sunbury, York, St. John, Charlotte, Queens, Kings, Carleton, Westmorland and Northumberland. Signatures of the bondsmen and two witnesses are affixed to each document. The bonds have been microfilmed in chronological order.
