- Background:
The earliest church at "the Hollow," now Brooklyn Station, was begun in the 1790s and completed in 1810 during the stay of the second missionary, Reverend William Ellis. It was replaced in 1857 and finally moved to Brooklyn Village (Newport) in 1902, where most of the congregation lived.
