Background:

Trinity Anglican Church is recognized for its importance in the early religious history of Saint John. Known as Trinity Church, the Parish of Saint John was founded by the United Empire Loyalists shortly after their arrival in 1783. It became the first congregation in the City of Saint John.

Trinity Anglican Church is one of a collection of brick and stone buildings that were built between 1877 and 1881 after two thirds of the City of Saint John was destroyed by the fire in 1877. An original church structure, completed in 1791, was destroyed in this fire. (Canada's Historic Places)

Contents:
The registers of Trinity Church, Saint John, that have been included on this microfilm are: baptisms, 1901-1957; marriages, 1836-1901, 1901-1956; and burials, 1901-1957. A typescript list of marriages, 1810-1814, has been microfilmed with the first marriage register. Three volumes of vestry minutes have been microfilmed after the registers. Volumes 2, 3 and 4 contain vestry minutes for the years 1790-1865 inclusive. Volume 1, which would contain the earliest minutes of the congregation, was missing at the time of filming.
