Background:

The first service was conducted in 1785 by Reverend Dr. Samuel Cooke. He was succeeded by Reverend Samuel Andrews, who arrived in Saint John on

25 May 1786 and began his service at St. Andrews, which continued until his death on 26 September 1818.

Contents:

The reel includes: registers of baptisms, 1787-1961; marriages, 1787-1960; and burials, 1787-1961. Also included are minutes of vestry meetings, 1786-1887, including records of St. John's Chapel of Ease, Chamcook; minutes of the Deanery of St. Andrews, 1847-1900, which include minutes of the Society for the Propagation of Christian Knowledge, 1815-1831; and a listing of notable events pertaining to the Parish of St. Stephen, 1786-1925.
