Colonial Office 358 is composed of four volumes of correspondence registers for the colony class, Colonial Office 188, New Brunswick, Original Correspondence, 1850-1867. The Registers follow the same general arrangement as Colonial Office 188, which is organized into the categories, Despatches, Public Offices, and Individuals or Miscellaneous, in that order. Volume 2 (13202) is divided into two parts and consequently has two Despatches sections (1854-1857) and (1858-1859), two Public Offices sections, and two Individuals sections. The internal order of these sections is chronological by date of receipt and numerical by register number. Each double page of the Register has the following headings: Registry Date and Registry Number; Name; Date; Subject (contains two columns and frequently has very detailed information); Former and Other Papers (includes date and register number); and How Disposed Of. Colonial Office 358/1-4, can be used as a finding aid to most of the correspondence in Colonial office 188 for the years 1850 to 1867.
