- Background:
Christ Church Parish was first established in 1786 and was part of the Parish of Manchester in the County of Sydney. By December 1787 a chapel existed, but there was no official church building until 1790. In 1814 a new building was completed. Guysborough County was formed from a portion of Sydney County in 1836.
