Background:

King's College was founded at Windsor, Nova Scotia, in 1789. In 1802 a Royal Charter was granted by George III proclaiming King's College, Windsor, "The mother of an university for the education and instruction of youth and students in arts and faculties to continue forever and to be called King's College." In 1923 King's College moved to Halifax and became associated with Dalhousie University.

Proceedings and Minutes of the Board, 1787-1835; letters and other papers written by the governors of the College and officials in England, concerning construction of buildings, statutes, rules, students, and financing. Correspondents include Bishop Charles Inglis, Sir John Wentworth, and Chief Justice Sampson Salter Blowers.
