Background:

The Newcastle District later became the United Counties of Northumberland and Durham.

Contents:

Prior to 1841, the Minutes contain both the judicial and the administrative records of the District court. The appointment of constables; granting of tavern licences; and the payment of accounts are a few of the administrative functions that the Court performed. Included are annual aggregate census figures by township and statements of rateable property in the District.

There is gap in the Minutes between 1832-1843.
