Contents:

The material in this record series has been arranged in a number of sections according to subject. Each section has been organized chronologically.

Reel 1, begins with debentures for travel and attendance for members of the House of Assembly and the Legislative Council. This is followed by militia and regular army records which continue until the first part of Reel 5. Included are the following: general correspondence; regimental orders; applications for commissions and certificates for commissions; quarter-master's bonds; certificates for warrants; militia musters and pay rolls; accounting correspondence, papers and vouchers; regular army supplies and troops; apprehension of deserters; and the Lieutenant Governor's papers respecting the Fenian Troubles. The remainder of Reel 5 contains material which, although important to historians, has little if anything to do with military affairs. There is a section called Mills and Manufacturing and another which is truly Miscellaneous. A few examples of subjects found in this last section include: almshouses, beacons and buoys, canals, census, currency and coinage, debtors, dredging, and others.
