Background:

Research Publications has assembled and made available in microfilm the most important published colonial and state records of the original Thirteen Colonies, Maine and Vermont. The series is comprised of sixty-seven titles and spans the years from the earliest available records of each colony until approximately 1800. In the case of Maryland, the records have been included until the year 1809.

The Colonial Records of Maryland have been microfilmed on two reels and contain six volumes of material.

CR 17. Acts of the Assembly passed in the Province of Maryland, 1692-1715. This volume also contains the following: His Majesty's Royal Charter to the Lord Baron of Baltemore(sic); Index to Maryland Laws, 1692-1715; and Index to Private Acts.

CR 18. The Laws of Maryland to which are Prefixed the Original Charter, with an English translation, the Bill of Rights and Constitution of the State, as originally adopted by the Convention with the several alterations by Acts of Assembly, the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, the Constitution of the General Government and the Amendments made thereto. 2 vols. Volume 1, May 1692-June 1785; Volume 2, November 1785-January 1800. There is an alphabetically arranged subject index to the Laws, the Declaration of Rights, and the Constitution, at the end of Volume 2. This subject index is followed on the reel by the Index to the Private Acts Signifying the Persons, Places, etc., Named in them and the Time of their Passing. The Index to Private Acts contains an alphabetical list of personal names.

CR 19. The Laws of Maryland with The Charter, The Bill of Rights, The Constitution of the State, and its Alterations, The Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution of the United States, and its Amendments. 3 vols. Volume 1, 1692-1785; Volume 2, 1786-1800; Volume 3, 1801-1809. A subject index to all three volumes is located at the end of Volume 3. This edition of the Laws of Maryland was published in 1811 and is a revision of the earlier Laws.
