            The Commission Book contains the document, issued by the King, appointing the Lieutenant Governor and Commander-in-Chief of His Majesty's Colony of Prince Edward Island.  Included are Commissions of Lieutenant Governors Edmund Fanning (1786-1804), and  Joseph Frederick Wallet DesBarres (1804-1812).  The Commissions of numerous local officials, who received their appointments from the Lieutenant Governor, are contained in the same volume.  These include Provincial Treasurer, Robert Gray, a Loyalist and former Captain in Edmund Fanning's, King's American Regiment.  The Commissions are arranged chronologically throughout the volume.
