In the context of this material, the term assignments refers to land grant locations. By far the greatest number of locations are in the Nassau/Home District. 

They are arranged in a numbered chronological order and contain the grantee's name, lot, concession, township and district where the land is located. Also included is the number of acres and the date of the grant. This is followed by remarks giving the legal authority under which the land was first granted, i.e. Land Board Certificate, Order in Council, etc.
