Miscellaneous : 1785 - 1875.

            The early records of the New Brunswick Executive Council contain a large number of miscellaneous papers on such a variety of subjects that only a few examples can be mentioned in this brief content analysis. The Provincial Archives of New Brunswick has reorganized this material, but since no refilming has been done, the original microfilm reels remain a useful and important historical resource.
 Included in the category of Miscellaneous Papers are records concerning the following subjects: British Regular Army Governor's Papers respecting the Fenian Troubles; Colin Campbell and sluice on Scoodiac; almshouses; currency and coinage; beacons and buoys; canals; census; currency; debtors; Government House; Houses of entertainment, taverns; Imported seamen; Legislative Library; Loyalists; mills and manufacturing; Mormons; Museum (Gesner); naturalization certificates; Orders-in-Council (Whitehall); police; probate; Province Hall; portrait of Lord Genelg; prisoners of war (American, War of 1812); religion; Robinson Papers (Commander John James); Saint John City and County; Saint John fires; St. John's, Newfoundland fire; temperance; trade and commerce; Treaty of Washington and Madawaska Survey; wood shipments; York County Poll on Incorporation; and many other records.

            Short hand-written lists of the items that have been microfilmed are located throughout the reels. A combined table of contents and microfilm shelf list is available in print in the corresponding red Loyalist Collection Inventory binder. It is also available as an Electronic Finding Aid Record (linked below). 

FINDING DOCUMENTS:          
1. Using either the Loyalist Inventory binder or the Loyalist online database, access the table of contents/microfilm shelf list, which provides a reel no., PANB reference no., box no., and a one line description of contents available in each box.  
2. Find the box no. containing your desired content.  Note the corresponding reel no. 
3. Load the reel and advance to correct box.  Each box is separated by a typed title page.	            

These documents are all part of RG 2/RS 8. The original records in RS 8 have been reorganized by the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick since this film was produced. Check for additional PANB reference numbers in the Table of Contents, as they reflect this reorganization.
