One document has been microfilmed on this reel. The document is entitled, Report from the Lords of the Committee of Council read before the King in Council at the Court of St James on 18 June 1784. The Report set forth, for the Kings approval, the proposed division of Nova Scotia and the formation of a separate province to be named New Brunswick. Also, the joining of the Islands of Cape Breton and St. John's (later Prince Edward Island) to Nova Scotia. Lieutenant Governors are to be appointed and civil administrations established, although St.John's Island would continue to be governed by its own laws. Estimates for defraying the cost of the civil establishments in New Brunwwick and in Cape Breton are included in the Report. The King, with the advice of the Privy Council, approved the Report along with the estimates of annual expense for the civil establishments, and ordered that the appropriate appointments be made for the administration of the governments; the order to take effect on 24 June 1784.
