This War Office volume contains a list of the reduced officers of the British-American Forces who were entitled to receive half pay for the years 1783 to 1789, inclusive. The Royal Ordinance authorizing half pay to the Provincial Troops has been microfilmed at the beginning of each year's list. The first Ordinance is dated 23 December 1783 and the last 23 December 1789. The columns in each list of reduced officers have the following headings: Regiment; Officers Names and Quality; Half Pay per Diem. Following each list is an Abstract of the Foregoing List, which is followed in turn by a list of Seconded Officers with their Regiments. There is also a tabulation entitled, Regulation of the Issue of Half Pay and Half Yearly Allowances According to the Several Rates to be Made to Each Officer on the Establishment for the year 1783. A similar record can be found for each succeeding year.
