Background:

Research Publications has assembled and microfilmed the most important published colonial and state records of the original Thirteen Colonies, Maine, and Vermont. 

The series is comprised of sixty-seven titles which span the years from the earliest available records for each colony until approximately 1800.

Contents:

The Colonial Records of South Carolina have been microfilmed on nine reels and contain twenty-three volumes of material.

CR 52. An Alphabetical Digest of the Public Statute Law of South Carolina. 3 vols. There is a lengthy introduction, list of judges and attorneys-general, 1696-1811, and a contents list at the beginning of each volume. A subject index to Volume 1 and Volume 2 is located at the end of Volume 2, and an index to Volume 3 is at the end of that volume.

 

CR 53. The Statutes at Large of South Carolina, 1662/3-1838. 10 vols. Contains the Acts, Records, and Documents of a Constitutional Nature arranged chronologically.

Volume 9, Acts Relating to Roads, Bridges, and Ferries, with an Appendix, 1703-1838. Contains the Militia Acts prior to 1794 

Volume 10, General Index, and Chronological List of all the Acts of the Assembly, 1682-1836. There is a table of contents at the beginning and an index at the end of each volume.

 

CR 55. The Public Laws of the State of South Carolina from its First Establishment as a British Province to the Year 1790, inclusive, 1682-1790. There are several appendices and a subject index at the end of the volume.

 

CR 56. Documents Relating to the History of South Carolina During Its Revolutionary War, 1776-1782. There is an index available after page 106.

 

CR 57. Records in the British Public Record Office Relating to South Carolina, 1663-1710. 5 vols.

CR 58. The Laws of the Province of South Carolina Before 1734. 2 vols. At the end of Volume 2 there is an Alphabetical Table of All the Foregoing Titles, and a List of Names of Persons Mentioned in the Titles of the Private Acts.

List of names in four Acts relating to confiscation or amercement of estates were omitted in the printing of these acts in Vol. 4 of Statutes at Large of South Carolina, but they were printed as Appendix No. 2, pp 629-35 of Vol. 6.
