The records take many forms and include: petitions from inhabitants; instructions to various officers of the Crown; letters received and sent; Royal Commissions sent to individuals in Massachusetts; orders of the King's Council; resolves on numerous subjects; extracts from letters; addresses to the King; proceedings of the King's Council; printed Acts of Parliament; reports of committees, and other reports; memorials of individuals, merchants, and others; printed votes of the British House of Commons; powers of attorney; orders for a committee to prepare an address to Her Majesty; expenses of Massachusetts agents in England; orders for...on many subjects; addresses to the Queen; minutes of meetings; petitions from Massachusetts to the House of Commons; memorials from Massachusetts agents in London to the British Government; and printed copies of the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle and the Treaty of Madrid.
 The Massachusetts agents at the Court of St. James in London, whose letters and documents are found in this collection, include the following individuals: Christopher Kilby, Eliakem Palmer, Robert Auchmuty, Francis Wilks, Jeremiah Dummer, Sir William Ashurst, Edward Quincy, Wait Winthrop, Elisha Cook, Anthony Sanderson, and William Bollan. In addition to the agent's records, a number of other individuals are mentioned including: Duke of Bedford, Sir Peter Warren, Governor William Shirley, Thomas Hutchinson, Jonathan Belcher, Samuel Sewell, Sir Henry Ashurst, Colonel Francis Nicholson, Edward Randolph, and Constantine Phipps and Governor Edward Cranfield of New Hampshire.            

            A table of contents at the beginning of the reel includes item numbers, page numbers, and dates. Unfortunately, the reproduction of this calendar is poor, and in places the details are difficult to read. A nominal index which gives page references to relevant documents is located at the end of the reel. The index is clear and easily read.
