            The reels contain five volumes of Probate Court Minute Books.  They include: Volume A, 1785-1804; Volume B, 1804-1818; Volume C, 1818-1823; Volume D, 1823-1826; and Volume E, 1826-1840. 
In addition to wills, probates and letters of administration, the records contain oaths; inventories of estates; guardianship documents; accounts; decrees; licenses to sell; authorizations; and numerous other documents.
Originals: The original records are held by the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick.

Finding Aids: 
            The Index to the St. John County Probate Records, 1785-1912, is available on the first microfilm reel. The Index is arranged alphabetically by the name of the deceased person, and includes the type of legal proceeding, the book/volume and page number of the probate minutes and the file designation.
