            The Charlotte County Probate Court Records are arranged in chronological order on three microfilm reels. The dates are as follows: 
Reel 1, 1785-1808;
Reel 2, 1807-1821; and 
Reel 3, 1822-1827.
The typed index is arranged chronologically and provides the name of the deceased as well as the place of residence, usually the parish. Researchers should not be confused by the three-digit number in the index under the heading CAT/WO and PJU/Pch.  The initial number one (1) was simply omitted by the compiler. Therefore, 785 stands for the year 1785 etc.
