The St. John County Index Books are arranged by date as follows: 1784-1823, 1823-1841, and 1841-1854. Each book is alphabetically arranged by the name of the grantor and the grantee. The entries include the registry book letter and number references, the page number, and the description of the document. The first part of Book I contains the Names of Persons who drew Lots in the City of Saint John, arranged by street and lot number. This list is followed by an Alphabetical List of Lots Granted in Saint John, N.B. The third list is A List of Lots Granted in Carleton. The fourth, and all subsequent lists, comprise an index by name for St. John County Registry Records. |
